Professor at the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest, working across natural hazards, systemic vulnerability, risk perception, disaster behaviour and spatial modelling.

Her research examines how physical, social, infrastructural and behavioural conditions interact to generate thresholds, transitions and disproportionate effects within coupled human-environment systems. Current work connects systemic vulnerability, systemic-risk propagation, Impact Chain methods and a mechanism-topology-timing framework.

Current roles

Director of the Centre for Risk Studies and founder of the Master’s Programme in Disaster Management; Director of the Simion Mehedinți Doctoral School of Geography; Romanian partner lead in Horizon Europe PARATUS.
